It is something we are taught from an early age, at least in Verona. To be kind and polite. To show respect to one's elders and betters. To be kind to those less fortunate than we are. They are lessons which came naturally to me, and I do not wish to give offense to anyone, if I can help it. I would prefer to be kind and to learn what I can about everything.
