[a still-undetermined amount of time later (hours? days? WHO KNOWS), Vriska carefully and quietly opens the door and makes her way across the room, trying to gauge whether or not Hanna's awake]

[Hanna actually is sleeping, surprisingly nightmare free. Urahara's magic is rather good at keeping Pitch away. The tossing and turning would have been bad for him anyways, but he seems happy to sleep, laying on his back rather than curled up like he usually would be.]

[still carefully and quietly, Vriska climbs up next to him and brushes a soft kiss against his cheek]

[she's not going to fall asleep on the bed next to him, even if she wants to-- too much of a chance that she'd roll over and hurt him-- but she'll let herself sit here for a little while before moving to a chair or the floor]

[His eyes blink open, still a little drugged, but its not as much as before. He can think a little more clearly now, even if he is kind of groggy and weak.]

Oh...Hey! Should've woken me up...

[she reaches over and threads her fingers into his hair, looking just a liiiittle bit guilty]

Oops. You were supposed to stay asleep!

I wanted to let you rest. Anyway, I just came in.

It's okay...I don't think I'll be wake long...

[He's kind of exhausted.] Good. I didn't want you in the cold...

I had three layers on; I was fine.

{she peers down at him]

Sounds like the painkillers are wearing off. Do you need more?

I think my brain is catching up faster than my body...I'll ask for more if I need it though.

[He tries to lift his arm but it's kind of numb and feels weird so it doesn't go much of anywhere.] See? Brain's faster than my body.

Yeah. You should stay still if it's easier.

[she slowly lowers herself down so she's lying alongside him]

Man, I'm glad you're okay.

Doctor told you I'd be okay, Vriska...it'll be alright.

Yeah, I know, but I worried a little bit anyway.

[she kisses his cheek]

I knew you would...

[He would sit up to kiss her's back, but that wouldn't feel at all pleasant so he just smiles tiredly instead.]

But I was okay so don't worry about me worrying.

[because that definitely sounds like a thing he would do]

[she brushes her hand across his forehead]

You can go back to sleep if you want. I'm just going to keep lying here.

[until she starts feeling too sleepy herself; then she'll go look for a chair to drag in here]

Mm...I'm going to. You should sleep too or something. I might ask you do me some favors tomorrow if I'm up to sitting up. I dunno how recovery is going to go.

I can do that. Bot things, favors and sleeping. I'll do the favors tomorrow and the sleeping later today; promise.

[she nestles into his pillow, still looking at him]

Hey, Hanna.

You're amazing.

Feeling a little less than Amazing right now, but thanks. [He closes his eyes though and wiggles his fingers, trying to reach the sheet covering him.] Can you pull that up a little?

[obligingly she reaches down, pulling it up to his shoulders]

No way. You're amazing twenty-four/seven.

Thanks.

And I try real hard, but I think my body is like running on a skeleton crew. We've got twelve hour shifts right now in amazing schedule.

Total bullshit. It's impossible for you not to be amazing.

I dunno Vriska. I think you might be biased.

But I can be biased, right? If you're amazing to me, that still means at least a little bit of something.

[she presses a finger to his cheek]

[He smiles, nodding slowly.]

It means a lot of something.

Okay. Because I know your self-esteem sometimes still gives you shit about that.

[she lets her hand fall onto the pillow]

... But maybe you'll be better now! Maybe the surgery will help.

I dunno Vriska. Maybe?

[At least its been getting better. And he's been good about it lately. The only thing he thinks he's going to gain from the surgery though is more weight and magic. But he could be optimistic?]
